I’m making myself scarce tomorrow and going out for the day with some girl friends.  That’s right.  There’s a big game coming up and it’s my husband’s turn to play host for all his mates.  So, all the boys are coming round to our place for pizza and beer, and I’m sensibly leaving them to it.  Of course, I know that I’ll return to a pigsty, with empty beer cans and pizza boxes strewn across any available surface.

However, on this occasion I’m not too worried.  You see, this time I’m prepared.  I’ve learnt from experience.  A few years ago, there was a similar scenario.  The boys came round for an afternoon of sport on TV and I went out and left them to it.  I naively didn’t realize the mess that would be created in my absence.  I returned to find beer cans covering the coffee table and pizza boxes lying discarded on the couch.  Grrrrr.  That was bad enough, but then when I began tidying I discovered various nasty stains all over my sofa – spilt beer, tomato sauce stains and such like.
