Ready made Slipcovers For Wingback Sofas and Loveseats

Friday, October 12th, 2007

I’ve noticed it’s surprisingly hard to find anywhere to buy ready made slipcovers for wing sofas and loveseats.  Most slipcover stores seem to stock just wing chair slipcovers, so if you’ve got a wing sofa or loveseat it can be difficult to know where to go if you want to give it a makeover.

Well, fortunately I’ve found somewhere that sell slipcovers for all types of wingback furniture – Slipcover Shop.  They have a selection of wing slipcovers in various styles, to fit most standard-size chairs, loveseats and sofas.  As long as your seat has wings up to 12in deep, measures up to 42in high at the back and has removable T-cushions, these covers should fit OK.

The wing sofa slipcovers from Slipcover Shop come in a choice of fabrics, as do the wing loveseat slipcovers.  A popular style is the stretch range, which is designed for furniture with legs.  Alternatively, there are the solid colors, which have a skirt – just right for hiding unsightly or tatty looking couch legs.  Click here to view the full range of wingback slipcovers.  Remember to if you spend over $125 when you order online, use coupon code SLSH to get a discount.

Planning a Party? Don’t Forget Dining Room Chair Slipcovers

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

If you’re having a party soon and want your home to look it’s best, then my top tip for you is to buy some dining chair slipcovers.  I wouldn’t do any entertaining these days without first putting my dining chair covers on.  Not only do they disguise my everyday chairs and give them an elegant new look for the evening, they also have the advantage of being washable, so I don’t have to spend the day after the party scrubbing food stains out of the upholstery!

A great place to buy ready made slipcovers for all styles of dining chairs is Sure Fit.  They currently offer seven different styles, in various colors, so whether you’re looking for a cover with a skirt to hide tatty-looking chair legs, or a short, fitted style, there’s something here for you.  And another incentive to buy your dining room chair covers from Sure Fit is the cheap prices. With prices as low as $14.99, it’s possible to cover an entire set of six chairs for under $90.  Here’s a brief overview of what’s on offer:

NEW Stretch Pique – Sure Fit have recently introduced this new range of dining chair slipcovers in their bestselling stretch pique fabric.  This is a great fabric as the high spandex content gives it a form-fitted appearance.  Available in a choice of four colors.

NEW Stretch Velvet – Another new design, this slipcover has the soft, luxurious touch of real velvet, combined with the snug-fitting benefits of memory stretch fabric.  Available in neutral and versatile mesquite brown.

Normandy – The Normandy fabric has a beautiful damask detail and is perfect for adding a touch of class and elegance to that special dinner party.  Available in burgundy, sage or champagne.

Cotton Duck Shorty – Made from hardwearing cotton duck and fully machine washable, this slipcover style is a favourite amongst those looking for a country look.  Available in seven color choices.

Indigo Denim Shorty – This is the perfect choice for the modern home.  The classic denim fabric is accented with brass jeans buttons and is really stylish.

Cotton Duck Full Length – The skirted version of the cotton duck shorty.  The ties can be either looped or tied in a bow, depending on the mood you’re trying to create.

A fantastic solution if you’re inviting lots of friends round for a party and don’t have quite enough seats is to dress up cheap folding chairs in matching slipcovers.  This is a good way to coordinate mismatched chairs.  Folding chair covers are available in both the Normandy and Cotton Duck fabrics, for only $9.99 each.

Mum Decides Ready Made Slipcovers Are The Way Forward

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Mission accomplished!  A few days ago I was trying to convince Lucy, a new mum, that she really should use slipcovers on her smart and pricey new furniture, otherwise it would soon be stained and smelly from baby puke and poop!  Don’t get me wrong, Annabelle is a lovely baby, but she does have a tendency to make a mess wherever she goes.  And poor Lucy is wasting so much time trying to keep her sofa and chairs looking pristine, it would be so much simpler for her to use washable sofa slipcovers.

My problem was that Lucy had it in her head that furniture covers always look messy and creased, and she was worried they’d lower the tone of her home.  So I invited her round yesterday so she could see my trusty slipcovers in use.  I had my everyday stretch slipcovers on my sofa and chairs, and they obviously made a good first impression as Lucy initially didn’t believe they were slipcovers, they fitted so well.

Still sceptical, she wanted to sit on the couch to prove her point that the fabric would wrinkle and become loose in no time, and she was amazed when it stayed smooth and in place.  Then of course, to really put them to the test and as if on cue, Annabelle the baby proceeded to cough up a load of baby sick all over the arm of the sofa.  But I was prepared for this.  Sensibly, I waited until mother and child were ready to leave, in case of any more little accidents, then I whipped the dirty slipcover off, stuffed it in the washing machine, and all within a few minutes fitted a fresh, clean slipcover back on the sofa.

As I predicted, Lucy was suitably impressed and went home to order her own ready made slipcovers online, to protect her furniture and her sanity!

Home Staging With Slipcovers Pays Off

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how I’d done some home staging in an attempt to help my friend Sally sell her apartment.  We spent a weekend boxing up all her personal belongings and getting rid of all the unnecessary clutter she’d accumulated over the years.  It was quite therapeutic for her actually, as she prepared for her future life with her new boyfriend.

The icing on the cake in our home staging efforts was my idea to fit ready made slipcovers on her living room furniture.  Before we did that, the random couch, armchairs and ottoman were a sight for sore eyes, and really did detract from what a nice, spacious room it was.  Anyway, following my advice, Sally went ahead and ordered a faux suede stretch slipcover for the sofa, along with coordinating chair slipcovers and a cheap ottoman cover

She emailed me a photo of the room once she was done, and the transformation was impressive.  The neutral colors of the furniture covers had done the trick at toning down the appearance of Sally’s secondhand seats.  I knew it wouldn’t be too long before she got that hoped for offer on the apartment.

And I was right.  Apparently the real estate agent took some new pictures of the place after our home staging weekend, which led to an amazing amount of interest from potential buyers.  With the help of those slipcovers, it was only a matter of time before one of them fell in love with the apartment and made an offer.  Sure enough, I’ve just received a message from Sally telling me the good news that she’s at last managed to sell the apartment – and she’s looking forward to using her lucky slipcovers in her boyfriend’s house, as they really do make her sofa and chairs look great!

Use Slipcovers To Redecorate For Fall

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

For the month of October, Sure Fit are offering 10% off all online orders of $100 and over.  So, now’s a great time to treat your home to a seasonal makeover for fall, and perhaps look ahead to the holidays that are just around the corner too.

Sure Fit have launched a selection of new slipcovers especially for the fall season, in some beautiful fall colors.  I’m looking for some dining chair slipcovers, as it’s always handy to have some in reserve for the busy holiday season, and I’m pleased to see that they’re now available in stretch pique.  This is one of Sure Fit’s bestselling fabrics, with loveseat slipcovers made from it being hugely popular.  It looks fantastic and has a form-fit, so the slipcover stays in place and doesn’t wrinkle.

Another one I like the look of is the stretch suede recliner cover.  It can be hard to find recliner slipcovers, but there’s a good choice here and this one has the look and feel of real suede, with the benefits of a stretch fabric, so it’s affordable and practical.

To save money on your slipcover order and to claim your 10% discount if you spend $100 or over, you’ll need to enter the promo code ASC1 when you order online.

Why Sofa Slipcovers Are A Great Idea If There’s A Baby In The House

Monday, October 1st, 2007

Yesterday I went round to my friend Lucy’s for tea and cake, which was a very civilised way to spend an afternoon.  I know Lucy as she used to go to my weekly yoga class, although she hasn’t been for a while.  Not since baby Annabelle was born in fact.  I think motherhood has been a slight shock to her usually ordered and organized life.  Lucy is generally very calm by nature, but I think the sleepless nights had caught up with her as she looked tired and seemed a bit stressed.

I could see that she’d made an effort to clear up the living room for my visit, and it was relatively tidy, considering she has a small baby to look after.  I went to sit down on the sofa, only for Lucy to warn me that it’d be better if I sat in the armchair – baby Annabelle had been sick on the sofa earlier in the day, and although Lucy managed to clean it off, the seat was still slightly damp.  No wonder she looked exhausted, if she’d been scrubbing baby puke out of her upholstery most of the morning – as if she didn’t have enough to do!  A slipcover would have made her day so much easier.

I sat down in the chair instead, and commented on how nice the room was looking.  Lucy told me how she’d redecorated only a few months before, and had splashed out on brand new furniture to complete the look.  She told me she was feeling rather foolish now, as she hadn’t realised how much mess the baby would make.  Apparently hardly a day goes by without baby food, dribble or puke ending up on the couch.  And she is getting really fed up with trying to clean out the stains.

“What you need is some cheap slipcovers.” I said.  “Get a couple of sets, so that you always have a clean one to hand in an emergency”.  I explained that ready made slipcovers are machine washable, and they’re designed to be easy to remove.  They’re the ideal way of protecting good quality upholstery from wear and tear.  However, although Lucy thought the idea of sofa slipcovers was great in theory, she was worried they wouldn’t fit properly and would ruin the look of her expensive furniture.

So, in order to convert her to the joys of slipcovers, I’ve invited her and baby Annabelle round here for afternoon tea, so she can see how well my stretch slipcovers fit and how much easier her life could be if she no longer had to spend her days wiping baby sick of the sofa!
