As most companies selling slipcovers calculate the shipping cost by the weight of the order, if you’re buying several slipcovers the shipping costs soon add up.  However, I’ve found a great ongoing promotion with Slipcover Shop, where you can get FREE shipping if you spend $219 or more.

You’ll need to enter the coupon code SLFRS at checkout when you order online, then press the "recalculate" button to make sure the shipping charge is discounted from your total.

Slipcover Shop a great range of quality ready made slipcovers for all kinds of furniture – sofas, loveseats, chairs, wingback seats and dining room chairs.  They also have unbeatable prices on custom slipcovers, which can be made to measure for less standard items of furniture, such as armless or sectional items.

Sofa Slipcover Saves My Couch From Little Christmas Visitors

Monday, December 17th, 2007

What a weekend!  On Saturday I had the crazy idea that I’d get the last of my Christmas shopping done at the mall.  As everyone else in town seemed to have the same idea, this wasn’t the most enjoyable experience.  It was really hectic and stressful, being pushed and shoved in the crowds and then having to wait in line to pay.  I could feel my blood pressure soaring!  I can see why more and more people are buying their presents online these days!

Anyway, fortunately I did manage to get everything I wanted, so I was looking forward to a nice relaxing Sunday at home, wrapping my gifts and getting organized for the big day.  However, when I got home and checked my phone messages I had to quickly change my plans.  Out of the blue I’d had a call from an old friend who I haven’t seen for years, since she moved away from this area.  She was passing through on Sunday on her way to visit family up north, so she planned to call in and say hi around lunchtime!

While it was a nice surprise, it did mean I had to wave goodbye to a relaxing Sunday, and I spent all morning cleaning the house and preparing some food for lunch.  Around 1.30pm Lydia and family finally arrived, and I got to meet for the first time her husband Phil and the terrible two-year-old twins, Tim and Rosie.  They are quite cute kids really, but at that age where their hyperactive behaviour can be a bit trying.  Especially when they refused to sit at the table to eat the soup I’d made, and then of course spilled most of it over my couch – leaving a bright yellow stain.

Of course, I’d made sure I’d used my most robust sofa slipcover, made from washable cotton twill, as I had a feeling it wouldn’t be an uneventful visit!  And spilling their spicy parsnip soup on the furniture was just the first little accident to happen.  After lunch Tim and Rosie went to play in the garden, which I’d hoped would burn off some of their excess energy.  But after running all over the veggie patch they came back inside and decided it would be fun to jump all over the sofa, leaving horrible muddy marks all over the slipcover.  Then the little terrors proceeded to spill their fizzy drinks and smear chocolatey fingers on the arms, before attempting to scribble on the seat cushions.

You get the picture.  As Lydia and co happily drove off into the sunset, I was left to survey the damage to my home.  The sofa cover was a complete mess, but luckily my loveseat and chair slipcovers had survived unscathed (where us well-behaved grown-ups had been sitting).  I was just glad I could rip the slipcover off and throw it in the wash.  And luckily I’ve got several spare slipcovers on standby, so I was able to fit another one – ready for the next onslaught of Christmas visitors!

Spare Set Of Slipcovers A Must Over Holiday Season

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

On Sunday we invited a few friends and neighbours to our house for pre Christmas drinks, seeing as it’s that time of year again already.  I made some of my mulled wine, as that’s always popular when we have guests, as well as mince pies and other party food.  We put all our Christmas decorations up and hung the lights on the tree.  And to add the finishing touches and complete the festive mood, I fitted my new stretch slipcovers on my living room furniture.

This time I’d chosen garnet stretch pique slipcovers from Sure Fit, for my loveseats, sofa and armchairs.  This deep red color is just right for this time of year, and is welcoming and warm.  Shortly before people began to arrive, I put on some Christmas music to get everyone in a party mood.  This proved a popular decision as after a couple of glasses of mulled wine, several people started dancing!

It wasn’t long before the first accident occurred.  Andrew, our neighbour from down the street, got a bit carried away on the dancefloor and didn’t notice until it was too late that he’d spilled half his drink over the sofa.  Later on, another neighbour, Sharon, somehow managed to sit on the remains of a mince pie that had landed on the arm of my loveseat, squishing the mincemeat into the slipcover material.

You get the picture, it was quite a lively party!  That evening when everyone had finally gone, I surveyed the damage.  Although my slipcovers are washable, I realised I didn’t have time to wash them and hang them out to dry before Monday, when I was expecting more visitors.  Fortunately, I had a spare set to hand in the linen cupboard, which are dark green and work just as well at creating a holiday mood.  I whipped the dirty covers off and it didn’t take me long to fit the clean slipcovers on my furniture, ready for the next onslaught of guests!  I learned my lesson there and have vowed to always make sure I’ve got a clean set of slipcovers on standby for emergencies like this!
