New Year New Look With Slipcovers

Now the upheaval and busyness of the holiday season is behind us, January is a good time to sit back and take stock of our lives.  The new year is traditionally a time when we make resolutions and set goals of what we want to achieve in the year ahead, in all aspects of our lives.  To me, my home is very important, so I always include some home improvement goals - there's always something around the house that could do with improving, whether it's a room that needs to be decorated or a picture that's waiting to be hung.

If you've got a room that's recently been painted but it still doesn't quite have that look you dream of, then take a look at your furniture.  All too often when people redecorate they find their old couch and armchairs don't fit in with their new color scheme.  Perhaps the upholstery is too dark, or the pattern is looking outdated or faded.  After all the expense and extravagance of the holidays, splashing out on a new suite is the last thing I'd want to do.  But with slipcovers the solution is simple - and affordable.

You may be surprised how much the appearance of your sofa or loveseat can influence the ambiance of your living room.  By fitting a new set of slipcovers over your furniture you can instantly change the mood of the room.  Obviously you want your home to feel welcoming and inviting, but the right choice of slipcover style can determine whether your room feels cosy or contemporary, modern or traditional etc.

I think sofa slipcovers are wonderful both for covering up a multitude of sins in ugly, unfashionable or tired looking furniture, and for totally transforming an entire room.  What's more, ready made slipcovers are so easy to fit you can have your living room looking sensational in minutes.  Furniture covers are inexpensive to buy, especially compared to the cost of a new sofa.  And with a bit of loving care your slipcover should last a long time.  Most slipcovers are machine washable - check on the label to make sure.  Slipcovers are brilliant for adding your personal touch to your décor and making your house really feel like a home.
