Washable Slipcovers Save Furniture
Happy new year! Here's a holiday tale to amuse you. My other half went out for drinks with the boys the week before Christmas and returned with them in the early hours, armed with post-pub kebabs. The sound of Christmas carols woke me up as they made themselves comfortable in the living room - they weren't exactly in fine voice! But it sounded like they'd all had a jolly time and got into the festive spirit.
I could tell they had some food, as after a couple of minutes the singing ceased and it went strangely quiet. I guessed this was because they were concentrating on their kebabs! I took this as a good sign, because what usually happens is they use all their energy eating their food and then get very sleepy and go home to bed. Or fall asleep on the couch in my other half's case!
I found him in a sorry state the next morning, sprawled on the sofa, on top of a half-eaten kebab. And it wasn't just my sofa slipcover that was covered in congealed kebab remains. None of my seats had survived - my arm chairs, loveseat and wing chair all had greasy stains and bits of mayonnaise-coated salad on them. Grrrr. I was really cross as I'd recently just put clean slipcovers on my furniture all ready for Christmas. I had to take them all off and put them in the wash.
But at least all my furniture slipcovers are machine washable. I dread to think what state my seats would be in if I didn't use slipcovers to protect them!
