Why Furniture Slipcovers Make Cat Owners Happy

My older sister, Emma, has a real soft spot for cats, with the result being that she seems to be forever adopting various strays and rescuing unwanted pets.  Up until now, she’s had the same old sofa she had as a student, along with two ancient old wing chairs passed down from our grandparents.  Her home’s always been comfortable, if a bit untidy and chaotic.  You always have to check before sitting on the sofa or chairs to make sure there’s not a cat sleeping on there!

Of course, with cats shedding hair and cleaning their muddy paws all over the place, Emma’s furniture has a tendency to look a bit grubby.  But her sofa and chairs weren’t worth anything and had looked worn out for years, so she never minded the cats sleeping on them.  In fact, she even encourages her pets to make themselves at home on the furniture!

This all changed recently though, when Emma’s husband finally put his foot down and decided the battered old seats had to go.  He ordered some gorgeous but expensive new furniture, as a surprise for Emma.  Of course, she was delighted to come home and find her home transformed.  But no sooner had she sat back in her smart new wing chair, Sparky, her ginger tom, had leapt up onto her lap and she realized with horror that her pristine new seats wouldn’t stay like that for long if the cats had their way.

Emma didn’t have the heart to shut her beloved pets out of the room.  But, there was an answer to the problem – sofa slipcovers.  Em straightaway got her laptop out and looked for slipcover stores on the internet.  She found a washable “pet-friendly” slipcover that was perfect for her sofa, and was pleased to discover that matching wing chair slipcovers were also available in this fabric.  Within a few days they were delivered to her door and she wasted no time in fitting them over her furniture.  As soon as she’d finished she stood back to admire her handiwork and Sparky made a beeline for that wing chair – but it didn’t matter that he’d just been out in the rain.  Those slipcovers were the ideal solution for both owner and pets!
